In 2013, MCI initiated the project MCI Dreambuilders to help change the lives of less privileged people, through volunteer work. This is one of the community projects that MCI talents from all offices around the world are engaged in.
Since its start, the Dreambuilders project has raised over €38,000 and our talents have volunteered 1,500 hours to improve the school environment and education for local children in Nagarkot, Nepal. This contribution includes the donation of learning material like books and stationary, funding teachers’ salaries and physical presence for rebuilding the schools.
MCI Amsterdam has been actively participating in this project since 2014, sending talents to help building and raise money. Alice Dieden-Richter of MCI Amsterdam states that “knowing that the region has suffered greatly from the 2015 earthquake, and having heard the story from my colleague that participated in last year, I thought that this is a unique opportunity, which I would love to take part in. By literally building new possibilities for children in Nepal, and also involving its talents in this journey, MCI truly represents one of its core value Believing in People, which I also believe in.”
As a local initiative in Amsterdam, together with chef Matteo Franco and artist Karim Adduchi, we have launched Art, Food & Do Good. It is a charity dinner taking place on 9 October where people will get the chance to taste a true culinary experience, as well as to enjoy and buy unique pieces of art in an effort to raise as much money as possible for this cause.
For this year’s edition, MCI Dreambuilders aims to raise €20,000. With the collected funds we will buy materials and labour to construct four new classrooms in Nagarkot. Between 27 November and 3 December, MCI talents from across the world will come together to help rebuilding the classrooms, and make magic happen.
This global initiative is considered one of many MCI’s capabilities of harnessing the unique power of communities. When people come together, they feel driven and engaged in achieving collective success by creating strong and memorable experiences.
