Association Management: A Day in the Life of a Volunteer


The Association Management Institute (AMCI) with the participation of its members, has developed a video series focused on association management and more specifically on the ‘Day in the Life’ of an association executive. The overall aim of this campaign, is to help executives and influencers overcome barriers and get more insights on the benefits of partnering with an Association Management Company (AMC), as well as to encourage talented executives to consider a career path in the field.

Accredited AMCs, such as MCI, are the recognised professional choice for associations, working as partners to help them develop and maintain successful business models and grow in both mature and emerging markets. MCI has been the first non-US based company to hold the accreditation, which it has successfully maintained since 2006.

The video series developed, demonstrates how AMCs collaborate with their clients to help them meet those challenges, grow and thrive. They address areas where associations can benefit from the services of an AMC and provide examples of the collaborative approach AMCs bring to ensuring associations’ success.

MCI was among the first companies invited to participate in this project. MCI USA’s Association Management & Consulting business unit provides full management services to the Special Libraries Association (SLA). SLA is a nonprofit international organization for innovative information professionals and their strategic partners and serves more than 6,000 members in 60 countries in the information profession, including corporate, academic and government information specialists. In its provision of full-service association management to SLA, MCI USA has been providing guidance through strategic planning and analysis, resource development and fundraising, and communications and public relations, while serving as the association’s comprehensive headquarters management and operations team.
